Case Studies

Whatever your project, Mastercolour can handle it for you – from a simple leaflet to a multi-faceted marketing pack that uses the whole spectrum of our in-house resources.

But there's no need to just take our word for it. These examples of our work in action will give you an idea of the type of challenges that we meet for our clients every day.

fast turn around

were recently asked to produce 25000 copies of an A4, 4-colour brochure with a 4pp cover and a 24pp text.

The cover was printed on 170gsm, gloss art paper. It was Matt laminated and spot U.V. varnished. The text was printed on 130gsm, gloss art.

The job was then folded, stitched and trimmed to size. The problem was that from approval of the proof, we only had three days to produce the finished product!

We ran the plates on our CTP (Computer to plate) system and loaded the presses. We printed the cover first as this had to be laminated and U.V. varnished. The text sections were then spread over three of our seven presses and printed sheet work. At Mastercolour we work double-day shift patterns and by the morning of day two the printing was complete. We then trimmed the sheets and loaded them onto our three folding machines, by the afternoon of day two we had completed the folding.

We then collected the covers and began the stitching on our Macey stitching line. By the morning of day three we had supplied advanced copies to our client who was delighted with the quality and amazed by our fast turn around time.

The job was complete by the evening of day three. We had easily achieved the deadline for delivery. The result that we always look for at Mastercolour is yet another satisfied customer.

creative estimating

We were recently asked to produce a quotation for 110000 wallets with an 80mm flap on page 3.

Whilst we were compiling our quote we noticed that by reducing the flap by 5mm we could interlock the wallets together enabling us to print more images to view on the sheet without altering the look of the wallet.

Our client was delighted and accepted the revised quotation saving themselves in the region of £4000.00.

At Mastercolour we always aim to work that little bit harder for our clients.

cost avoidance

We were recently given a job to produce 35000, 2-colour leaflets.

Our machine minder noticed a major spelling error whilst 'making ready' on the job. We immediately halted all work, corrected the file and made up a new plate. The revised job was ready to proceed within 30 minutes.

When discussing the error with our client, they pointed out that if the error had not been corrected, even though they had signed off their proof as clean, the reprint would have cost them over £1000.00.

At Mastercolour our aim is to give our clients that little bit extra.
